At Hemam, we recognize that Nigeria’s food security depends on the success of rural smallholder farmers, who grow over 85% of the nation’s food. That’s why we are committed to helping them produce more by providing access to high-quality inputs, expert guidance, market opportunities, and innovative solutions that reduce losses and increase yields. Through strategic partnerships with leading agro-industrial food processors, we ensure that farmers’ surplus grains reach the right markets, boosting their incomes and strengthening Nigeria’s food systems. Join us in this mission to empower smallholder farmers and produce more food for Nigeria.
Smallholder farmers are the backbone of Nigeria’s food system, yet many face challenges that limit their productivity. At Hemam, we are committed to changing that. We believe in breaking barriers, bridging gaps, and providing the tools they need to succeed. By empowering farmers to produce more food, we are not just ensuring food security; we are creating a future where they can thrive and prosper. Together, let's strengthen Nigeria’s food systems and support smallholder farmers in reaching their full potential.
In Ibaji, a remote farming community in Kogi State, over 250,000 smallholder rice farmers depend entirely on rainfall to grow food. When the rains delay or floodwaters rise, their entire harvest is at risk. No electricity. No irrigation. Just hope for good weather. At Hemam, we believe farmers shouldn't have to rely on luck to feed their families and communities. That’s why we’re introducing off-grid, solar-powered irrigation systems—a practical, clean, and affordable way to help farmers grow food year-round.
